            "Grandma Moses of the Smokies"

Born on a farm in Sevier County, Tennessee, Iva Prince lives happily on few acres of paradise in the Smoky Mountains. She was inspired early on by the beauty of nature and has been into art as long as she can remember. Having had no formal training, Iva paints what she feels as well as what she sees. Much of her work is from childhood memories. Reputed as the "Grandma Moses of the Smokies," Iva has been painting for some 30 plus years. More than 10,000 people own and cherish her mountain scenes.

From her small art studio overlooking a cool mountain creek, Iva draws inspirations for her paintings and the brilliant colors, mountain charm and details they are so well known for, from her country home place and the forest that surrounds it.

The woods to stroll in, a mountain river, an organic vegetable garden, flower and herb beds, dogs, cats and wild critters, clear mountain moonlight, and 100,000 tree frogs – with harmony from the owls – to sing her to sleep at night are all the substance from which she draws to nourish her creative talent Her paintings reflect the splendor and serenity of the mountains. You are drawn into her world to sit on her porch, walk along her path or wade in her creek. Owning a painting by Iva is like having a little of yesteryear wrapped in the beauty of her home and the Tennessee Mountains.
